Duncan MacInnes, Ostaig
Chairperson


Duncan is the current Chairman. He has lived and worked all his adult life in Sleat where he was a Countryside Ranger and then Manager at the Clan Donald. Duncan has helped set up SEALL, Feis an Eilein, Sleat History Society, Club Film and other events and community development programmes in the Highlands.

 

Nicola Thomson, Duisdale Mòr
Vice-Chairperson


Born in 1981, Nicola has degrees in Sociology & Social Policy from the University of Stirling and Gaelic & North Atlantic Studies from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig [SMO]. She has been working at SMO for over 5 years as PA to the Director. Nicola has lived in Sleat for 24 years and is interested in preserving the Gaelic language and culture.

 

Calum Robertson, Sasaig
Treasurer


Born in 1949, Calum attended Ferrindonald School, Portree High and Glasgow University. Calum's CV includes Highland Council Development Officer (S&L), Head of Corporate Services (SMO), Company Director Tosg, Company Secretary Canan, SMO (Developments) Ltd, Bail'ur Ostaig Ltd and the Gaelic Training Trust.

 

Henry Mains, Sasaig
Secretary


Current Secretary of the Sleat Community Trust. Henry has Institute of Management qualifications in Business Management, Business Administration and an NVQ in using Information Technology. A former Director of Skye Builders he has lived and worked on Skye for over 30 years.

 

Andrew Prendergast, Armadale
Born in 1967, Andrew has a 1st class honours degree in Land Economy from the University of Aberdeen and is a qualified Chartered Surveyor. Since 1993, he has worked with HIE Skye & Wester Ross (formerly Skye & Lochalsh Enterprise) firstly as Property & Projects Manager, and now as Head of Communities & Infrastructure. Andrew has been living in Armadale for 6 years, where his wife Maggie runs a business. He has a particular interest in land based projects, strategic planning for the future, environmental sustainability of development and community involvement in decision making. Andrew is a Gaelic speaker.

 

Angus Venters, Ferrindonald
Angus is one of the current GPs in Sleat, arriving here in 1999 after working in Leeds for several years. He was born and educated in Scotland, and has lived and worked in several places over the years. In addition to general practice he has also in the past been a Director of Leeds Medical Service Ltd; Secretary of Leeds Doctors' Cooperative and Vice-chair of the Sleat Community Trust .
Currently, he is also Clinical Director of the Mid-Highland Community Health Partnership, Vice-chair of Club Film and a member of the local fencing club.
He is a Science fiction fan, a technophile and claims to be an amateur futurologist. He also brews a fair beer....

 

Domhnall Angaidh MacLennan, Teangue

Dòmhnall Angaidh has just returned to Skye after spending three and a half years in Islay as the Director of Ionad Chaluim Chille Ìle. He has been involved in industry and Gaelic development since 1991. Recently married, Domhnall Angaidh now lives in Sasaig and is Commercial Director at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

 

Susan Walker, Camus Cross

Susan has lived in Sleat since moving from the Isle of Mull with her husband, two sons and house cow in 1989. She is employed as Cultural Coordinator in Schools by Highland Council and is an active crofter, gardener, artist and traditional musician. She is keen to see Sleat develop as a vibrant, forward-looking community, with a pride in its traditional Gaelic and cultural values.

 

Sam Graham, Sasaig

Born in Paisley with Scottish parents. I soon moved up to Skye, got married and had kids. After 15 years of wedded bliss, I was persuaded to join committees! Starting off with the P.T.A, I moved onto Local History before joining the Community Trust. Will I never learn!
